Prawns Ularthiyadh

Ingredients :

  • King prawns peeled – 250 gms
  • Ginger and galic crushed each – 1tbsp
  • Kashmiri red chilly powder – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Corriander powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Fennel powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Kokum (soaked in water for mins) pieces – 2
  • Coconut pieces – 1/4 cup
  • Onion thinely sliced – 2
  • Shallots – 6
  • Curry leaves sprigs – 2
  • Coconut oil – 3 tbsps
  • Salt to taste

Method of preparation:

  • Wash and clean the prawns. Drain it and keep it aside.
  • Add half of the ginger, garlic, chilli (half of it) turmeric powder, kokum, thengha kothu, salt and curry leaves.mix well using your hands.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add finely sliced small onion an fry till it becomes golden brown.
  • Add remaining ginger,garlic ,curry leaves and onion .saute till the onion becomes light brown .add the remaining chilli powder,coriander powder and fennel powder ..And fry till the raw smell goes and oil starts appearing .
  • Add marinated prawns and salt.
  • Cook the prawns in medium flame till the water is dried and prawns are well coated with masala ( don’t over cook the prawns ).by stirring it in between.
  • Serve with appam ,pathiri and rice
